Mastering Online Art Classes: 5 Things I Learned from Blue to Bloom

Hey everyone!

I've been a bit absent from this little internet journal of mine lately. The past month has been all about giving my students my undivided attention in Blue to Bloom, and it's been an incredibly moving and exhilarating experience. Spending the beginning of spring with such an amazing group of women has been an absolute honor.

Thinking about taking or hosting an online art class? Here are some key insights I've gathered from teaching and participating in online courses over the past few years:

  1. Prioritize Live Sessions: When attending live sessions, give them your full attention. Just like you would in a physical lecture, treat online classes with the same level of focus. You'll get more out of the experience this way.

  2. Catch Replays if Needed: If you can't attend live sessions without interruptions, don't worry! Allocate a section of time to watch later or catch the replay. You can pause and take notes as needed.

  3. Set Your Pace: Art your own pace, but consider setting goals to keep yourself on track. Whether it's finishing the course by a certain date or participating in at least one live session, setting targets can help you stay motivated.

  4. Connect with Classmates: Don't miss out on the opportunity to make friends with your fellow classmates. You already share a common interest, so take advantage of the networking opportunities.

  5. Celebrate Your Growth: Taking a class is an investment in yourself. Reflect on the risks you've taken, the fears you've faced, and the new skills you've learned. Celebrate your accomplishments and the growth you've experienced.

The doors for Blue to Bloom will open again later this year. If you're interested in joining our Bloomie community, drop your email address here, and I'll add you to the list!

Sending love and flowers your way,

Michaela
